Una Isla Vacante
2024, artificial intelligence, 3.12 min.
The video and images, created using artificial intelligence and utilizing both journalistic archives and the cartographic archive related to the San Pedro Valley fragmentation, present a narrative about the abandoned multifamily housing on the border of Tijuana. This situation is a consequence of the global economic recession that began in the USA in 2008.
The project not only documents the physical transformation of the peripheral landscape in this border area but also explores the economic dimensions of the crisis. Through a unique approach that fuses elements of fiction with personal experiences, the video and images offer a particular view of how the border landscape becomes a desolate periphery, revealing the traces of the economic crisis in the urban environment. This visual and narrative representation highlights the complexity of the economic and social consequences in the region.
