“Soy colorista, el color ha sido siempre un imán en mí” es la frase que describe el punto de partida de la obra de esta artista chilena. Julita Luco, de profesión diseñadora, quien se ha dedicado por completo a la pintura en los últimos 19 años.
«Para la artista no hay límites, ni en el formato ni en el espacio donde trabaja. Si su obra pudiera sintetizarse en una palabra, ésta sería libertad».
El color es su aliado, siempre está concentrada en lo que el color puede decir, a través de sus infinitas herramientas con una calidad e intensidad cromática insuperable. Es ahí donde parte el proceso creativo de Julita Luco, haciendo que el color sea fundamental en la composición de su obra con mucha fuerza y decisión. Activa, espontánea, libre. No lo piensa mucho, ejecuta, pinta, mancha, se atreve. Todos estos años de trabajo y de riguroso oficio, constatan su fascinación por el arte y la pintura.
El arte es una forma de vida, de expresión, no es solo una disciplina hecha a la perfección, sino que es también un lenguaje, una manera de expresar sus emociones, vivencias. La artista hace de su diario vivir, un registro, como si fuera un registro fotográfico, de imágenes que quedan plasmadas en su mente, para luego, cobrar vida en el lienzo. Es, como ella explica, “una fuerza interior”.

Trabaja también con fotografía. A través de ella, busca crear, desde otro plano, quizás diametralmente opuesto a la pintura, pero perfectamente compatible. Siempre está soñando, creando, y en la fotografía lo hace a través de los elementos que captura. Son éstos los que más tarde servirán de inspiración en sus trabajos pictóricos.
Para la artista no hay límites, ni en el formato ni en el espacio donde trabaja. Si su obra pudiera sintetizarse en una palabra, ésta sería libertad. Trabaja al aire libre, fuera de las cuatro paredes que podrían limitar su espacio y quehacer.
Julita es libre en ejecución y temática. No existen conceptos preconcebidos. Simplemente acude al gesto espontáneo para dar vida al color que se mezcla con el agua, carbón, pigmentos y el acrílico. Trabaja con grandes formatos, donde los márgenes no existen como tampoco existen en su cabeza.
La pintura de la artista está relacionada directamente con su vida, con sus propias etapas personales, con el día a día, las distintas experiencias, sensaciones, el movimiento, la calle, los colores, el cemento, los edificios, la ciudad, la naturaleza, lo rápido, lo lento, la gente, lo que sucede, lo que se detiene, y que muchas veces no somos capaces de capturar.

Buscando llenar el espacio que le dan sus lienzos de gran tamaño, Julita espontáneamente expresa formas a través de la mancha. Tímidamente salen desde el color y la transparencia, para dar vida a alguna forma, algo que sugiera lo que su mente ha captado en el registro periódico de sus vivencias.
La mancha cambia, deambula por un rincón y otro, buscando el lugar y momento para detenerse y quedar impresa en el lienzo. La obra se convierte en un constante cambio, movimiento, donde también existe algo de azar, de descontrol y de libertad.
Este año ha sido de mucho trabajo pictórico para ella. Ha participado en distintos proyectos que implican distintos desafíos. Actualmente la artista se encuentra participando de una exposición colectiva Sabores de nuestro mar y tierra –con la obra llamada Caleta Portales– en Casa Errázuriz, en Reñaca, junto a 19 artistas, los que trabajaron en torno a este gran tema.
Y para finales de este año Julita se encuentra trabajando para una futura exposición, de la cual sabremos más en el futuro.{:}{:en}By Bernardita Garib / Chile.

The color is her ally, she is always focused in what color can tell throughout her endless tools with an unbeatable chromatic quality and intensity. This is where the creative process of Julita Luco starts making the color an essential part of the composition of her work with great strength and decision. She is active, spontaneous, and free. She doesn’t think much, she executes, she paints, she stains, and she dares. Her fascination by art and painting is determined by all these years of work and rigorous profession.
Art is a way of life, of expression, it is not only a perfectly made discipline, but it is also a language, a way to express her emotions, and experiences. The artist makes her everyday life, a register; as if it were a photographic record of images that remain captured in her mind and then come to life on the canvas. “An inner force” as she explains.

She also works with photography. Through it, she looks to create, from another shot, maybe diametrically opposite to painting, but perfectly compatible. She is always dreaming, creating, and she does that throughout the elements that she shots in the photograph. Those are who later will be used for inspiration in her pictorial works.
There are no limits for the artist, neither in the format nor in the space where she works. If her work could be synthesized in one word, that would be freedom. She works outdoors, out of the four walls that could limit her space and her endeavor.
Julita is free in implementation and thematic. Preconceived concepts don’t exist. It simply turns to spontaneous gesture to give life to color that mixes with water, charcoal, pigments, and the acrylic. She works with large formats, where the edges doesn’t exist neither exists in her head.
The painting of the artist is directly related to her life, her own personal stages, with daily, different experiences, feelings, movement, street, colors, cement, buildings, city, nature, the fast, the slow, the people, what happens, what stops, and most of time we are not able to capture.

Looking to fill the space that large canvases give, Julita expresses forms spontaneously through the stain. Timidly emerged from color and transparency, to give life somehow, something that suggest what her mind has captured in the periodic registry of her experiences.
The stain changes, wander from a corner to another, looking the place and moment to stop and remains printed on the canvas. The work becomes in a continuous change, movement, where something of change, decontrol and freedom also exists.
This year has been a lot pictorial work for her. She has participated in various projects that implicate different challenges. Nowadays, the artist is participating in a collective exhibition called Sabores de nuestro mar y tierra – with her work called Caleta Portales at Casa Errázuriz in Reñaca. She is with 19 artists those who worked in lathe to this big issue.
And for the end of this year she is preparing to participate in an exhibition with the artist Fernanda Saldivia of Desdoblaje at the Isabel Aninat gallery at Parque Arauco. The exhibition looks to express that there are different ways to confront a same reality, experiences that goes dyed of our own emotions. The unfold ability to sense and discover the underlying within a same reality is what artists look to explore throughout this exhibition.{:}
