El mayor intercambio de arte cubano y norteamericano se pospone para 2017

The Bronx Museum en Nueva York estaba preparando para la temporada de primavera (otoño en el hemisferio sur) la muestra Wild Noise, la exposición más grande de arte cubano a hacerse en Estados Unidos. Ante la amenaza de un posible decomiso de las obras por parte del Gobierno cubano, sumado a problemas legales y de organización, los organizadores decidieron posponer la exhibición.

El nombre de la muestra se extrajo de un poema de Víctor Hugo y hace referencia al caos que existe en los espacios urbanos.

La nueva fecha se reagendó para un año más, en junio de 2017. Las obras a exponerse provendrán del Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes de la Habana (MNBA) y se espera que haya un intercambio de artistas entre ambos países.

Desde la Bienal de la Habana en 1984, el Bronx Museum y el MNBA han trabajado en conjunto para organizar la nueva exposición. “Estamos en un punto clave en un nuevo tipo de relación entre Cuba y Estados Unidos –tanto políticamente como artísticamente–“, declaró Holly Block, Director Ejecutivo del museo norteamericano.

La inauguración de Wild Noise, coincidirá con la 12 Bienal de La Habana, en donde se expondrán más de 100 obras del Bronx Museum que abordan diversas temáticas y cuestiones estudiadas por los artistas de Nueva York.

The Bronx Museum in New York, was preparing to the spring season (autumn in the Southern Hemisphere) the Wild Noise showing, the biggest exhibition of Cuban art to do in the United States. Faced with the threat of a possible confiscation of the works by the Cuban government, together with legal and organizational problems, the organizers decided to postpone the exhibition.

The work’s name was extracted from a Victor Hugo’s poem and it refers to chaos that exists in the urban spaces.

The new date was rescheduled to one year later, in July 2017. The works that will be exhibited will come from Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes de la Habana (MNBA) and it is expected an artist exchange of both countries.

From the Havana Biennial in 1984, The Bronx Museum and MNBA have worked together to organize the new exhibition. «We are at a key point in a new type of artistic and political relationship between Cuba and the United States» said Holly Block, executive director of the North American museum.

The opening of Wild Noise will coincide with the 12^th Havana Biennial, where more than 100 works of the Bronx Museum will be exhibited; those works address various topics and issues that were studied by artists of New York.
