Estuvimos en la charla organizada por el Museo de la Solidaridad Salvador Allende (MSSA) que reunió a dos grandes exponentes de la escena artística chilena de la década de los 70: el poeta Raúl Zurita y el artista visual Juan Castillo.
La actividad se realizó en conformidad con la exhibición que actualmente se encuentra en el Museo y que reúne el trabajo de artistas destacados de la escena local durante la década de 1970, y que revisa los diferentes recursos visuales y plásticos que generaron una respuesta ante la difícil situación política que se vivía en el país.
Ambos artistas conversaron sobre sus experiencias e impresiones de lo que significaba ser un artista en el Chile de los años 70, el inicio del C.A.D.A. (Colectivo Acciones de Arte), los proyectos en los que participaron, el escenario de crisis que se vivía durante la dictadura y cómo este escenario influyó en la creación de obras y acciones de arte que marcaron a la Historia del Arte nacional como nunca antes. A la vez se explayaron sobre sus impresiones de la exposición que actualmente se encuentra en las salas del segundo piso del Museo, en el que se reúnen obras de variadas materialidades aunadas en una curatoría que busca rescatar aquellas expresiones artísticas que demostraban la efimeralidad de las obras que ya no respondían a una línea tradicional sino que buscaba crear nuevos lenguajes y expresiones, y la importancia de la colectividad como un medio de unión entre artistas ante las precarias condiciones que existían en Chile.
La posibilidad de compartir experiencias con representantes de este período es única, y ayuda a comprender mejor el contexto de la exposición: la historia, la estética y el espíritu de unión y solidaridad. La instancia de generar un diálogo abierto es muy importante para el estudio de este período del Arte chileno, que desde hace años ha empezado a tomar relevancia.

We were in a talk organized by the museum called “Museo de la Solidaridad Salvador Allende” (MSSA, in its Spanish acronym). At this meeting, there were two important personalities of Chilean art scenes of the 70’s: the poet Raul Zuita and the artist Juan Castillo.
The activity was done while the museum was presenting its exhibition, which consists on the collection of renowned artists’ artworks that use visual and plastic resources to be against the hard Chilean political situation in the 70’s. This exhibition is in the museum yet.
The above-mentioned artists talked about five topics: their experiences and impressions of being an artist in Chile about 40 years ago, the creation of the activist-artist group named “Colectivo Acciones de Arte” (CADA, in its Spanish acronym), the projects they participated, the critical scenario due to the dictatorship, and the influence of this scenario concerning the creation of artwork and art actions that were important in national art history. Then they speak about their impressions regarding the above-mentioned exhibition on the Museum second floor (Where diverse-appearance artworks are being exhibited in a curatorship that seeks to recover those artistic expressions that show the brevity of the artworks that do not belong to a traditional expression, but seek to create new languages and expressions), and the importance of the community as a means of union among artists before the precarious conditions Chile had.
The possibility of sharing experiences with personalities from this period is unique. It helps to comprehend easily the exhibition context: the history, the aesthetic, the spirit of union and solidarity. Making an open dialogue is rather important to study this Chilean art period, which has started to emerge some years ago.
