Mientras la vida cultural en Kabul está constreñida por el crecimiento de la inseguridad por los ataques terroristas, la embajada de Estados Unidos llama a los americanos a ejercitar la “extrema cautela al momento de moverse por la ciudad. Veinte artistas afganos están preparando un viaje a la capital de Estados Unidos para una gran exhibición programada para marzo.
Turquoise Mountain es un centro de arte fundado hace 10 años atras por el Príncipe Carlos y el presidente de entonces de Afganistán Hamid Karzai. La exhibición de unos 1.3 millones de dólares, presentará un grupo de talladores cuyas esculturas del siglo XIX están hechas con dos toneladas de madera de cedro del Himalaya, traídos desde Kabul para una instalación. Además habrá artistas, calígrafos y joyeros. La exposición será respaldada por la familia Sackler, reconocida por fomentara la vida cultural y tradicional en Afganistán. La exhibición se centrará en poner de manifiesto la transformación económica y cultural de diez años en el área de Murad Khani en el viejo Kabul.

While cultural life in Kabul is constrained by growing insecurity by the terrorist attacks, the US Embassy called Americans to exercise «extreme caution when moving around the city”. Twenty Afghan artists are preparing a trip to the US capital for a major exhibition scheduled for March.
Turquoise Mountain is an art center founded 10 years ago by Prince Charles and the then President of Afghanistan Hamid Karzai. The exhibition of some 1.3 million, will present a group of carvers of the nineteenth century whose sculptures are made with two tons of deodar wood, brought from Kabul for an installation. There will also be artists, calligraphers and jewelers.
The exhibition will be supported by the Sackler family, known for promoting cultural and traditional life in Afghanistan. The exhibition will focus on highlighting the economic and cultural transformation of ten years in Murad Khani area in Old Kabul.
