Era Uma Vez Uma Floresta
2019, video, 1.36 min. Editing: Renata Padovan, voiceover: Lina Casanova, music and sound: Cassandra’s Error by Alvos Moveis, guitar and trumpet: Miguel Barella, guitar: Giuseppe Lenti.
The video was edited using early 1960s 16-mm film, and showcases a wooded area that was recently flooded by the construction of a hydroelectric plant. Water swallowing the forest and desperate monkeys in the tree canopies are dramatic scenes from my childhood memories.
In the Amazon there are dozens of dams ready, some under construction and many others in the pipeline. One of the dams flooded an area of almost 3,000 square meters of forest. It is sad to imagine the magnitude of the damage they cause.
