Luego de leer diversos documentos científicos, Salvador Dalí desarrolló una gran curiosidad por la física nuclear. Temas como la anti materia y la distribución de la energía obsesionaron al pintor durante décadas. Esto se reflejó en muchas de sus composiciones, tales como Galatea de las esferas, realizada en 1952.
Esta obra está compuesta por un grupo de esferas que, como si fuesen partículas atómicas, forman el rostro de Galatea, gran amor y musa de Dalí. La perspectiva tridimensional de la pintura juega con tonalidades cristalinas y transparentes que dejan pasar la luz hasta el horizonte. El punto de fuga, proyección muy utilizada durante el Renacimiento, se concentra en la boca de la modelo. Su mirada y postura sugieren tranquilidad y sutileza, en un todo que emana belleza.

This work in composed by a group of sphere that, as if were atomic particles forms the face of Galatea, lover and muse of Dalí. The three-dimensional perspective of the painting plays with crystalline and transparent tonalities. The vanishing point, a very used projection during the Renaissance, is concentrated in the mouth of the model. Her look and posture suggest calm and delicacy, in a whole that emanate beauty.
