El porteño Carlos Valdés comenzó su viaje como artista plástico cuando decidió tomar su mochila y lanzarse a recorrer Sudamérica haciendo auto-stop. Gracias a la influencia de su Maestro Lajos Janosa, Valdés se vio en la necesidad de salir en busca de diferentes países, culturas y personas. Tenía el afán de ver con sus propios ojos aquellas obras de las que tanto escuchó hablar. A su regreso tomó sus pinceles y empezó a crear.
Su técnica está influenciada no sólo por su maestro húngaro, ni por su travesía en Sudamérica sino que también por los sucesivos viajes que realizó a Europa. El realismo fantástico de sus óleos retrata caras, cuerpos, torsos. Figuras humanas que parecieran esculturas coloreadas con la suavidad de los tonos pasteles y rostros delineados con la fuerza del rojo y café.

His technique is influenced not only by his Hungarian master nor by his journey around South America, but also the successive travels that realized in Mexico and Europe. The fantastic realism of his oil paintings, portray faces, bodies, and torsos. Human figures that seems colored sculptures with the softness of the pastel colors and outlined faces with the power of red and brown.
