Alex Katz (Nueva York, 1927) comúnmente considerado como uno de los precursores del pop art, se caracteriza por sus retratos femeninos y composiciones figurativas de colores sólidos y llamativos. Su obra nace dentro de un período de abstracción americana, sin embargo, su camino hacia la construcción figurativa toma un eje primordial, separándose del resto y tomando un camino único y vanguardista.
