Los días 25, 26 y 27 de mayo se realizará en el Museo de Arte Contemporáneo (MAC) el seminario Arte/Moda: Intersecciones, un encuentro multidisciplinario en torno al arte y la moda, junto a sus diversos puntos de convergencia y divergencia.
El seminario explora la relación entre el arte y la moda a través de la presentación de ponencias de artistas contemporáneos que han usado el textil, el vestido y la moda como soporte y tema de sus proyectos visuales; así como también, de diseñadores de indumentaria que se han inspirado en la historia del arte, usado estrategias artísticas o colaborado con artistas para crear sus colecciones.

Alexis Carreño, doctor en Historia del Arte y Crítica de la Universidad Estatal de Nueva York y académico del Departamento de Artes Visuales de la Universidad de Chile, organizó este encuentro al cual fueron invitados: AdeAntonio, Rodrigo Bruna, Jorge Castañón, Juana Díaz, Ropa Doceñada, Manuel Figueroa, Nury González, Maite Lobos, Loreto Monsalve, Pía Montalva, Pablo Núñez, Cristóbal Portaluppi, Alejandra Prieto, Noli Provoste, SISA, Rocío Troc, Constanza Urrutia, Francisca Román, Walka, Ximena Zomosa y Pía Montalva, especialista en moda que pretende ser el punto de partida del seminario con una charla magistral.
Esta iniciativa tiene sus orígenes en la tesis que el profesor Alexis Carreño realizó para obtener el grado de Doctor, donde reflexionó entorno a las relaciones de los sistemas del arte y la moda. De esta forma, con su regreso a Chile el 2014, tras permanecer por cinco años en Estados Unidos, decidió organizar este encuentro para discutir los puntos en los cuales el arte y la moda se acercan y distancian.

En las mesas de discusión se presentarán las visiones de artistas y diseñadores quienes ofrecerán diversas perspectivas en torno al arte y la indumentaria. Por ejemplo, entendiendo la vestimenta en su sentido más amplio como todo aquello que es usado en el cuerpo como el maquillaje. También una mesa analizará la íntima relación de la indumentaria con la imagen a través de la fotografía de moda, cuyo valor artístico ha sido cuestionado en numerosas ocasiones. Además, un panel explorará la indumentaria desde el arte textil asumiendo que la base de cualquier forma vestible es la fibra y el tejido (tanto el arte textil como el diseño teatral son las únicas disciplinas que abordan la moda en la Universidad de Chile).
Paralelamente al seminario, se desarrollará un workshop dictado por el artista Jorge Castañón para estudiantes del Departamento de Artes Visuales y se exhibirá una selección de fashion films en la sala Juan Egenau realizado por Cristóbal Portaluppi, organizador del Festival Santiago Fashion Films. Por último, un libro con las ponencias presentadas será publicado posterior al seminario.
El seminario, que se llevará a cabo durante estos tres días entre 17:00 y 20:30 horas en la Sala de Conferencias del MAC Parque Forestal, es de acceso gratuito y sin inscripción. Sin embargo, los cupos son limitados, por lo que se tomará en cuenta el orden de llegada.

The seminar explores the relation between art and fashion through the presentation of talk of contemporary artists, which have used textile, dress and fashion as support and theme of its visual projects; and also designers of clothing which have inspired in art history using artistic strategies or collaborating with artist to create their collections.

This initiative has its origins in the thesis professor Alexis Carreño made, to obtain the degree of Doctor, where he reflected on relation of art and fashion systems. In this way, with his back to Chile in 2014, after remain for 5 year in United States, he decided to organize this meting to discuss the points in which art and fashion are closed and distanced.

At the discussion tables will be present the artist and designer visions whose will offer different perspectives on art and clothing. For example: understanding clothes in its larger sense as all that is used in the body as makeup. Also a round table will analyze the intimate relation of clothing with the image through fashion photography, whose artistic value has been questioned in many occasions. Also a panel will explore the clothing from textile art assuming that the base of any clothing form is the fiber and knitting (in textile art and theatric design are the unique discipline that tackles fashion in Universidad de Chile).
At the same time to seminar, will be developed a workshop give by artist Jorge Castañón to students of Departamento de Artes Visuales and will be exhibit a selection of fashion films in the room Juan Egenau realized by Cristóbal Portaluppi, organizer of Festival Santiago Fashion Films. Finally, a book with the presentation realized will be published after seminar.
The seminar will be during this three days, from 5:00 pm to 8:30 pm in Sala de Conferencias del MAC Parque Forestal, free entrance and without registration. However, space is limited so, will take in consideration the order of arrival.
