Artista de la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, profesor y académico de Número de la Academia de Bellas Artes del Instituto de Chile, Cienfuegos tiene una amplia trayectoria tanto a nivel nacional como internacional. Ha expuesto en América, Europa y Estados Unidos, y su obra ha sido vendida en la subasta de Christie’s y Sotheby’s, es conocido y considerado de los artistas chilenos más importantes de su generación a nivel latino americano.
Después de ver un Libro de Van Gogh, a los 11 años comenzó a pintar y de ahí que nunca más se detuvo. Su obra, característica de personajes algo caricaturescos, trata sobre temas que la sociedad esconde o no quiere ver. También cita constantemente importantes obras históricas, utilizando técnicas como óleo sobre tela, la gráfica y la escultura.
