Es un verdadero Museo de paz. En medio de la nada este recóndito y escondido lugar del mundo es, prácticamente, un tributo u homenaje al arte.
Se llega en barco. Es una isla del distrito Kagawa en Japón. Cuenta con una población que ronda los 4.000 habitantes y su territorio total, léalo bien, son 15 kilómetros cuadrados, específicamente 14,22.
Se ha poblado de más arte que gente, gracias al magnate, amante del arte por cierto, Soichiro Fukutake, presidente de la Corporación Beness. Durante más de 30 años se ha dedicado a financiar fundaciones y proyectos en pro de la difusión del arte, pero en esto ha puesto buena parte de inversión. Resulta que hasta ese rincón ha llevado a alojan obras de Kusama, Pollock, Tadao Ando, Basquiat, Monet y más.
Es una isla prácticamente fundada para el turismo. En ella, una multiplicidad de hoteles y, por supuesto, museos. Se esconden entre vegetación y bosques. Si te paras en algún lugar de la isla de seguro verás una obra o alguna intervención artística: sea donde sea que mires. A la intemperie o dentro de galerías o espacios, se encuentran como dispersas, como caídas del cielo las obras de los artistas más destacados de la contemporaneidad y también de todos los tiempos. No sólo japoneses, sino del mundo entero. Un punto en medio del mar donde se guardan reliquias de interpretación, estudio e investigación artística.
El Museo Chichu alberga quizá, la obra que más se diferencia del resto y cuya autoría le pertenece a Claude Monet. Es una de sus Ninfeas en gran escala que se aloja junto a un jardín que también lleva el nombre del pintor.

You can reach this place via ship. It is an island of the Kawaga district, Japan. It has around 4,000 inhabitants and has, believe it or not, 15 square kilometers (14.22 km specifically).
Thanks to the magnate and director of Benesse Corporation Soichiro Fukutake, who undoubtedly loves art, this island is inhabited by art more than people. For more than 30 years he has financed foundations and projects for art diffusion. However, he has financed a large amount on this island. It is an island founded for tourism. On it, hidden in the forest, a plethora of hotels and, of course, museums can be found. This island is a place in the middle of the sea that stores relics for artistic interpretation, study, and investigation.
Chichu Art Museum stores, perhaps, the most distinguishing work compared to the rest: a large-scale artwork of one of the Water Lilies done by Claude Monet. It is stored along the garden named Monet.
