Costa Seca
2017, video (hd, sound, loop 8′ 14”) and tide chart drawn with chalk on the wall.

The work consists of a performative action that recreates the outline of the disputed triangular stretch of land between Chile and Peru, using saltpeter and a chalker along the border of both countries. The challenge emerges upon reaching the sea, where the ever-changing tide continuously erases the line, forcing it to be redrawn again and again. This repetitive act transforms into an obsessive and absurd task, revealing the futility of imposing a fixed border in an environment that is in constant motion.

This performance took place at the border and came to an abrupt end when the participants were detained by Peruvian border patrol and subsequently removed from the area.
