From tomorrow, you can visit the exhibition Diaspora, where works of the Chilean artists that participated in the 2017 Venice Biennale are included. This will be developed at the Cerrillos Contemporary Art Center.
The Cerrillos Contemporary Art Center’s proposal presented is looking for a reflection about the ideas of identity, memory, representations and interculturality. One of the works exhibited is Werkén by Bernardo Oyarzún, who represented his country in the Pavilion of Chile, and Ticio Escobar was the curator of it. Werkén seeks to put some subjects such as national representation and identity and the conflict between the State and the Mapuche people back in the spotlight.
The artist Enrique Ramírez (Santiago, 1979), who was part of the “Pavilion of the Shamans” in the international exhibition of Viva Arte Viva. He presents a series of works where A Man Walking stands out. The film shows us one of the obsessive elements of his work; the constant movement of the sea, and this time is in the surreal landscape of the Uyuni Salt Flat.
Through his installation Southern Cross, Ismael Frigerio (Santiago, 1955) explores the historic memory of Chile through the exhibited landscape in different layers of information and material nature. While Alejandra Ruddoff (Santiago, 1960) on her part, in her work Mutatis Mutandis, goes deeper about the movement phenomena, the space and the matter through the sculptural exploration.
Finally, the artist Bárbara Palomino (Sao Paulo, 1982) presents the multimedia, resonant installation A última bobina de filme super 8 que você filmou, a work that started from the personal and family memory of the artist and it shows the significant connection between lost and oblivion.
