El 18 de septiembre el MNBA está de cumpleaños, justo el mismo día en el que en Chile se celebran las fiestas patrias. Fue ahí cuando se inauguró su edificio patrimonial, el que hoy es sede de uno de los museos más importantes del país. Para celebrarlo, durante todo el mes se llevarán a cabo visitas guiadas por el recinto que darán cuenta de su historia arquitectónica. Además, se aprovechará la ocasión para presentar el catálogo de la muestra Tránsitos. Colección de esculturas del MNBA.
El nombre original de este centro del arte fue Museo Nacional de Pinturas, edificio inaugurado 30 años después que se fundara el Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes. Para conmemorar este hecho, se han preparado diversas actividades.
Por un lado los asistentes podrán participar de historia y arquitectura del edificio MNBA. Este 11 y 25 de septiembre se darán visitas guiadas con detalles sobre los orígenes y particularidades arquitectónicas del museo fundado por Emile Jéquier.
También se hará la presentación del catálogo Tránsitos. Colección de esculturas del MNBA. La cita es el 29 de septiembre a las 19:00 horas. Ahí se podrán apreciar obras provenientes del Museo de Copias, una iniciativa creada en 1989 que se propuso reunir una colección de grandes obras de diversos períodos, tales como el Renacimiento o el Romanticismo. El fin de todo aquello era servir de modelo para los artistas chilenos en formación. A cargo de la curadoría de la exposición estará Gloria Cortés y no será necesaria una inscripción previa.

Besides, will make a presentation of the catalog Tránsitos (Collection of sculptures of the MNBA). The meeting is on 29 September at 19:00 hours. There will be appreciated works from the Museo de Copias, an initiative made in 1989 that proposes gather a collection of great Works of diverse periods such as the Renaissance and Romanticism. The goal was to work as model for the Chilean artist in training. Gloria Cortés will bi in charge of the curatory and in not necessary registration.
