Autopista Central convoca a cinco artistas nacionales para realizar intervención en la ruta

By means of artistic proposals, styles, and diverse techniques; the artists – that were summoned – are taking part of this tender that plans to recover the southeastern wall of the new connection between General Velásquez and Costanera Norte.

In October, 2015, Autopista Central and Corpartes Foundation invited artists Sebastián Errázuriz, Ivan Navarro, Catalina Bauer, Benjamín Ossa, and Macarena Ruiz-Tagle to present an artistic proposal for the street extension that started to work in September, 2015.

From diverse styles and perspectives, the artists are already working on their large-scale projects, bearing in mind visibility, technical feasibility, and environment contribution criteria.

Autopista Central general manager Christian Barrientos said that they decided to summon the artists to this tender because “all road initiative we do seeks to be a contribution to community and to landscape with a global urban vision of our projects to offer comprehensive solutions and to enhance people’s quality of life.

According to the executive director of Corpartes Foundation Jaqueline Plass, “it is a privilege to be part of this project; we hope it creates a big impact on people as well as on the artistic aspect in our country. One of the objectives of CorpArtes Foundation is to create cultural contribution by means of cultural transforming experiences, supports of vision creations, and individual perspectives. Alliancing with Autopista Central will help us with the above-mentioned objectives.”

The artists presented their drafts on Wednesday 13th before a jury made up by representatives of Renca’s Autopista Central, Ministry of Public Works, CorpArtes, among others. The presentation was done in the CA660, the cultural center of CorpArtes Foundation. The judges will publish the winner proposal on Tuesday, January 19th. The chosen artist will perform his or her project on July, 2016 as a new urban milestone.
