El artista brasileño Vik Muniz está creando una réplica exacta del reverso de cinco grandes pinturas de todos los tiempos. Entre ellas La mujer mauritana de Vermeer, The Goldfinch de Carel Fabrititus y Sesiones de anatomía de Rembrandt. Parte de esta serie de inversos, incluye también la afamada obra que conserva el Museo de Louvre, la Mona Lisa. La serie lleva el nombre de “Los maestros holandeses” y se exhibirán en la Galería Holandesa desde el 9 de junio al 4 de septiembre de 2016.
«Se muestran las superficies, etiquetas, todo el hardware», explica Emilie Gordenker, director de la Mauritshuis y comisario de la «off -beat» a The Art Newspaper.
Muniz explica que la idea de la serie surge luego de una visita al Museo Masp de Sao Paulo. Como hombre artista, lo que pudo ver en el reverso de las obras en exposición, le hizo sentir agradecido del trabajo de sorporte y diseño de vidrio de Lina Bo Bardi, quien diseñó plintos de vidrio, entre otros, para sus trabajos.
La exhibición contará con un guiño a los enlaces brasileños del fundador de la galería, Johan Maurits, que era el gobernador general de Brasil en Holanda en 1640.
Muniz está creando una copia de un paisaje de Brasil para su colección también, pintado en 1667 por el artista Frans Post. El artista relata que tiene planes para crear más y que espera que la exhibición viaje por el mundo.

The brazilian artist Vik Muniz is creating an exact replica of the back of five large paintings of all time. Including Mauritanian women by Vermeer, The Goldfinch of Carel Fabrititus and Sessions anatomy by Rembrandt.
Part of this series of reverse also includes the famous work that preserves the Louvre, the Mona Lisa.
