{:es}Sotheby’s de Londres, pondrá en subasta uno de los mejores retratos de Enrique VIII, junto con La esclusa, una de las obras más famosas de John Constable, el próximo 9 de diciembre.
La obra de Constable, que reaparece en el mercado por primera vez, luego de 160 años, es una pintura paisajística que representa una escena campestre de la “infancia despreocupada” del artista. También se trata de una de las dos versiones que hay sobre esta escena, que muestra una panorámica del valle del Stour, bajo un cielo encapotado, donde se aprecia la torre de la iglesia de Dedham, sobre un río rodeado de los prados de la esclusa de Flatford.
Sobre el cuadro de Enrique VIII, fue pintado por Holbein, transmitiendo el egocentrismo y la obstinación del monarca inglés. The constable’s work, which reappears in the market for the first time after 160 years, is a landscape painting that represents a country scene of the «carefree childhood» of the artist. It is also one of the two versions of this scene, that shows a view of the Stour valley under an overcast sky, where the tower of the church of Dedham, over a river surrounded by Flatford’s sluice meadows is seen.
Henry VIII, was painted by Holbein, transmitting the selfishness and stubbornness of the English monarch. The picture was made when the king was about 50 years and when he was recovering from an tournament accident and his marriage breakup with Catherine Howard, who was executed in 1542 by him.{:}
