Defini\u00f3 su vocaci\u00f3n art\u00edstica en 1937 al conocer al ingl\u00e9s Gordon Onslow-Ford, quien lo estimul\u00f3 a pintar. De tal manera se hizo conocer y empez\u00f3 a ganar lugar entre artistas como Marcel Duchamp y Jackson Pollock, representantes de la vanguardia norteamericana. Early in his artistic career, his works reflected his metaphysical concerns and the importance of religious creations.
