El diseño se instaló en Londres

This year, London was the headquarters of the Design Biennale. It seems that the British capital is still positioning as a discipline focus. In September was the moment of the London Design Festival, an art market that opened its doors thanks to the thrust produced by the biennale, with bigger spaces and more artist than the previous editions.

With the slogan “Utopia by Design,” the Biennale was successful when showing the newest and most innovative in the design world. The same line was followed in London Design Festival.

Among the most highlighted exhibitions were Electrocraft, located in Tord Boontje’s space. The exhibition sought for mixing craftworks and technology. Electronic devices highlighted by their esthetic beauty beyond a utilitarian sense. Among authors and research showed, it was Daniel Weil, Studio Drift, Yuri Suzuki, El Último grito (The Last Scream,) and Silo Studio.

Matter of Stuff Studio was the main promotor of an exhibition that stood out because of its innovating creations. Some of them look for the elimination of the limit between material, as occurred with Studio Uufie that tried to eliminate the separation between metal and wood, or between marble and canvas. Amog the artist located in this area, it highlighted Tim Vanlier, Olga Bielawska, Alessandro Zambelli, and Nina Cho.

For her part, Seeds Art Gallery carried out the exhibition Martino Gamper with Friends which revolves around the work of Gampre, Max Lamb, and Jochen and Gemma Holt. Anonymous artworks were sold in stratospheric and cheap prices with the promise that some of them were made by famous designers. An irony within art market.
