Panoramas culturales para vacaciones de invierno

Winter break just kicked off and different cultural institutions started a series of activities dedicated to children, young people and the whole family. Art workshops, guided tours to exhibitions and children’s festivals are some of the events Arte Al Límite has selected for those who are seeking art-related fun.

Andy Warhol at the Moneda Cultural Center (CCPLM)

Until June 15th, pop icon Andy Warhol will be exhibited at the cultural center. The sample, with over 228 pieces, will include the famous portraits of Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor, Michael Jackson, Mao Tse-Tung, Prince and Alfred Hitchcock, in addition to the iconic Campbell’s soup and the electric chairs.

Workshop: I am a pop icon (For children between the ages of 3 and 6)

The family will play dress up to invent a character using makeup, costumes and accessories.

Workshop “My pop pantry” (For children between the ages of 7 and 13)

After touring the exhibition, children will create posters about consumerism and the positive values that cannot be bought.

Other workshops on comics, pop art history and photography will be held for adults and young people.

Yoko Ono at Corpartes

Dream Come True is the name of the exhibition, a retrospective of the Japanese artist’s work. 80 objects, videos, films, installations, sounds and recordings comprise the sample focused on instructions that question the limits and concepts of art. Corpartes invites you to visit the exhibition through the guided tours dedicated to children and families.

Winter workshops at the Beaux Arts Museum

The Beaux Arts Museum will exhibit three samples over the winter: El bien común, which shows part of the museum’s collection; Transparencia Sonora by Paz Lira, a sample that uses 450 honeycombs for an installation; and Movimientos de Tierra with 6 projects dedicated to landscapes and the Chilean territory.

“The (re)created museum” presents workshops for children and young people. The participants will use different techniques and supports to create their own pieces in order to learn about all the phases involved in the creative process. The workshops are free and all materials will be provided.

Besides, those who belong to the Amigos de Bellas Artes association will be able to enjoy the “Vacations, art and movement” winter program for children from 5 to 10 years of age from July 15th to July 29th. There will be mural painting workshops, composition, oral stories and art appreciation.

A week at the Benjamín Vicuña Mackenna Museum

The Benjamín Vicuña Mackenna Museums opens its doors for children between the ages of 8 and 12 to participate in cultural activities. From Monday 10th to Thursday 13th of July, children will be able to experiment and become artists, curators, superintendents and journalists for a day through different guided visits, games and workshops. All activities are free, but require prior registration.

Monday, July 10th: “We are all artists”

The children will visit the establishment and the different works of arts to later create their own pieces with play dough and colored pencils.

Tuesday, July 11th: “Little curators”

Consisting of a tour of the Historic Library, the children will learn about restoration instruments and basic manipulation techniques of heritage objects. The day will end with a screening of animated shorts.

Wednesday, July 12th : “Superintendents for a day”

The children will visit the “La Intendencia” room of the permanent exhibitions and they will present their ideas to improve the city through games and miniature making.

Wednesday July 13th : “Today we are journalists”

The children will become journalists by “interviewing” Benjamín Vicuña Mackenna, for which they will need a phone with a video recording feature and the download cable. The fun day will end with a game of treasure hunt.

Children’s Festival at the Matta Cultural Center

From July 13th to 16th and from July 19th to 22nd, the Espacio Matta Cultural Center will hold the “La Patota” children’s festival.

The event will have 8 theater presentations, 8 children’s film screenings, inflatable games, face painting and reading and drawing zones.

The activities will start at 3:00 pm and the admission is free for all events, with the exception of plays, which will be funded by voluntary contributions.

The Espacio Matta Cultural Center is located in Santa Rosa #9014 at the La Granja commune (Santa Rosa Subway Station L4A).
