Zulema Maza’s main focus is on the modern world, addressing the self and unveiling societal practices that are normalized and linked to historical processes endorsed by dominant groups and reproduced in an arbitrarily and broadly.

Thus, with a gender-focused perspective, Zulema Maza sheds light on a “question of meaning”. Beyond the watchful characters in her artwork, she aims to portray in their attitudes diverse approaches to comprehending a stark reality that catches us off guard. However, she not only sheds light and reveal this world, but also introduces a fresh method of organizing everything and skillfully brings forth darkness, concealment, and light.
