Egypt, 1946.

Artist based in France since 1956, after the Egyptian revolution. He studied Art at the National School of Arts in Nice, France.

He has participated in the Venice Biennale (2013), and in several solo and group exhibitions in countries such as France, Austria, the United States, Lebanon, Belgium, among others.

He constantly participates in important international art fairs, and his work is part of several collections.

The Concerto Facciale installation draws inspiration from Lucio Fontana’s series Concetto Spaciale, where the artist took a blade to the canvases.

In Hayat’s piece, the woman depicted, who could be interpreted as the Virgin Mary, Mary Magdalene, or a woman of Muslim or Buddhist beliefs, nears the end of her life journey.

Her gaze focuses on wounds, either evading them or enduring their presence. Her mature face embodies wisdom, the countenance of someone who has ventured into a world of fire and blood.
