The Spanish capital turns, once per year, into a showcase for the main fairs of contemporary art. Know the dates, location and novelties. Be part of this experience during the last days of February.
ARCO MADRID
From February 26 until March 1, ARCO MADRID will present a fine selection of national and international galleries. All of the programs of the fair fullfil the mentioned above: General Program, Discussions, Opening and It´s Just a Matter of Time; in the last artistic practices will be watched from the piece of Felix Gonzalez-Torres. This year, the 39th version that presents 1,350 artists from more than 30 different countries proposes to broaden the viewers’ vision towards contemporary art. About 40% of 209 galleries are brand new and present 35 special projects that enhance the innovation and research.
Arte Al Límite will be present at the shared magazine stand, exhibiting their latest magazine editions and books. The fair organized by IFEMA fulfills a program that offers quality through the discovery of artists, making them visible during talks and guided tours. ART MADRID
During the same dates, the 15th version of Art Madrid will be held, presenting in its programs, One project and General Program, galleries like ATC Gallery, Alba Cabrera and Galería Hispánica Contemporánea. In its parallel program of activities, developed before and during the fair, is the collaboration with Mario Gutiérrez, ART MADRID-PROYECTOR’20: Videocreation, new media and action art.
From February 12 to March 1, the proposal that promises to house this most groundbreaking and current contemporary language will link art with the public and creators in a more intimate and personal way. Talks, meetings with artists and master classes. The afternoons from Wednesday 26 to Saturday 29 will be filled with live actions with renowned artists in the field of performance and video creation. During the 5 days Mario Gutierrez Cru will bring the most outstanding selection of pieces from the world scene, with proposals from Portugal, Mexico, Colombia, Peru, Argentina, France and the Netherlands.
URVANITY
The new Urvanity fair presents its fourth edition in the COAM, Colegio Oficial de Arquitectos de Madrid, in Horteza 63 street from February 27th to March 1st. Among its galleries and artists we find Artrust, Le feuvre & Roze and 3 Punt Galeria. It has a special section called Young Galleries, among these are B-Murals and Happy Gallery.
The program consists of 4 spaces: Mahou Space (The mythical graffiti artist of New York in the 90s, with the participation of one of the most renowned female artists on the scene, Queen Andrea) and Mahou Talks (discussion of New Contemporary Art and public space). The artists present at Urvanity Mahou Walls will be Nevercrew, Gviiie, Zest and Ever – Nicolás Romero.
JUSTMAD
“The fair where to discover the most emerging art” starts on February 27th and until March 1st, it will take place in Neptune’s Palace, next to the square of the same name. This eleventh edition, with more than 150 participants, will debate the aesthetic and social aspects through performances, video art and round tables. JUSTMAD not only presents a powerful artistic discourse; it is presented along with concern for a sustainable future, the environment, gender equality (parity) and exponential technologies.
Among its exhibitors are Galeria of Arte A Ciegas, AP Gallery and Burning Giraffe Art Galery. The awards are an important part of the fair: they promote the most daring creations and the efforts of young collectors. The winners of Coleccion Room mate Hotels, the Rucandio collection and the DVK Seguros prize and the Young Collector’s Prize of the Pilar Citoler Foundation will be announced during the fair.
