The Galería Weekend model is carried out successfully in 20 cities around the world and has positioned itself in Chile as one of the most important cultural events, exhibiting the work of more than one hundred renowned and emerging artists. For the President of the Association of Galleries of Contemporary Art, Isabel Aninat, “this is a celebration that has managed to bring art closer to people and presents the galleries as small museums that protect contemporary artistic work. These spaces are not only going to buy a work, they are also going to learn.”

Among the novelties for this third version, there is the Edwards Bank Award for the “Best Sample” that will be in charge of a jury composed of the curator Matías Allende, the collector Carlos Nuñez, the artist Voluspa Jarpa, the cultural manager Constanza Güell and the director of Artishock magazine Alejandra Villasmil. “This award generates a healthy competition among the galleries but it is also a fundamental space for recognition of our national artists. In Chile we have great talents and very few spaces to celebrate them” adds Voluspa Jarpa, who currently exhibits his work“ Altered Views ”at the Venice Biennale.

The event will also feature this year the participation of leading international guests, including Elena Nofal, Coordinator of the Procurement and Public Programs Committee of the Museum of Latin American Art of Buenos Aires (MALBA); Rosa de Graaf, curator of the Witte de With in Rotterdam; Florencia Portocarrero, Coordinator of the Public Program of the AMIL Project in Lima; Rochi del Castillo, Director of the international contemporary art fair ART LIMA; Sharon Lerner, Curator of Contemporary Art of the Museum of Art of Lima (MALI) and the Argentine curator Jimena Ferreiro.
