Chile has a prominent participation in CBRE Urban Photographer of the Year

The Spaniard Alfonso Béjar was the winner of the contest with his photograph “Reflexión”

The renowned Photograph contest CBRE Urban Photographer of the Year broke a record in participation with a prominent call of Chile and inthis new edition, the pictures were framed in the futuristic city background.

From CBRE Chile, M. Cecilia Iacobelli, Marketing Coordinator, stressed the high interest in the competition and the increase of Chilean participants that this year reached 462 registrations. “It’s amazing to see how much the contest has grown in recent years, and how through this type of initiatives it has been possible to connect people around the world. Especially on this occasion we are very happy and proud since one of the winning photographs was taken in our country, inside the Santiago subway, by the Brazilian Gilberto Sudre”, said the executive.

The general winner of the contest was the Spaniard Alfonso Béjar with his photograph called Reflexión (cover photo), which portrays a futuristic image of one of the iconic monuments of the city of Valencia. In the Instagram category, the winner was the American Jerry Kestel with Time Travelers, who captures the city of Chicago at night, from a skyscraper.

While in the category of regional winners, the prize of the Americas was awarded to Eduardo Castañeda, from the United States, for his Trascending Boundaries photography and showing a group of people under a digital fluorescent waterfall in Tokyo. The “Asia Pacific” award went to Blowed Over of the Indian Udayan Sankar Pal, which shows a child on the paper route, in Hyderabad, India. Finally, the EMEA prize was received by the Spaniard Joaquín Luna for The Light of the Neighborhood, where a pedestrian illuminated by a lantern is portrayed, in the streets of Murcia, Spain.

The “Urban Photographer of the Year” competition is held annually by CBRE, the world’s leading commercial real estate services company. This year the maximum prize of the contest was a photographic trip to a destination chosen by the winner, along with a partner.
