About power relationship in “A la cabeza del ganado”

A la cabeza del ganado (heading the livestock in Spanish), is a play that question the ways in which decisions are internationally made in different situations where the power wreaks havoc: the student federations, the neighborhood council, the congress, the presidency and, why not, businessmen.

The complexity of “having” or exercising power is that situations can be manipulated, managed based on personal convenience, this is how the Team Company and director Pablo Green demonstrates, through these five scenes where you can see how the Social “welfare” depends only on some people, who are constantly watching for their own good, their own prejudices or interests. And how a work that is a mirror of the current reality in the country could not be assembled, if the Institutions are constantly demonstrating the corruption of their members, the business coalitions seem to be as literal as observed in the last scene of the play, where those students of the Pontifical Catholic University, who presented a list to lead the federation of students -in the first scene- meet decades later to define the future of prices, politicians and names that will become fashionable in the future generations, indeed, the power is concentrated in the same families that had it more than a century ago, as Sofía Correa demonstrates in “With the reins of power: the Chilean right in the twentieth century”, as observed when seeing the last names of the rulers from the Independence.

The situation? Each person who lives in this country knows it, a country where the power is just for a few, the money as well, and the rest of us are like the livestock, at the mercy.
