CorpArtes Foundation announces National Talent SANFIC 15th Shortfilm contest program

The selection is composed by 17 works, 6 of them will have their global premiere in the fifteenth edition of Santiago Festival Internacional of Cinena.

Santiago Festival Internacional of Cinema, SANFIC -arranged by CorpArtes Foundation and produced by Storyboard Media-, announces the shortfilms that will participate in the National Talent Shortfilm Contest in the anniversary edition of the contest, which will be carried out between August 18 and 25.

Of the 113 short films that were nominated, 15 fictions were selected, two of them animations and two documentaries, which address topics such as addictions, revenge, science fiction, infidelity, love and machismo, among others.

“As a Foundation, we are interested in offering spaces for national talent to develop their work and make themselves known. In that sense, the National Talent Short Film Contest of our festival is a great opportunity for Chilean creators, and for this 15 year anniversary edition of SANFIC we are happy to have received many nominations, of which 17 short films were selected that delve into real issues, deep and daily, reflection of the different points of view. These productions enrich the reflections around our reality and national production, “says Francisca Florenzano, Executive Director of CorpArtes Foundation.

The selection is made up of fictions featuring well-known names in the performance, such as Alfredo Castro, Paulina García, Jaime McManus, Giannina Fruttero, Mónica Carrasco, Luis Dubó, Paula Zúñiga, among others. Within these productions the national animation will be present with the short films Extrañas criaturas (Cristóbal León and Cristina Sitja Rubio) and Who Are You? (Julio Pot).

This new version of the National Talent Short Film Competition includes six fictions that will have their world premieres in SANFIC 15 °: Congratulations (Leticia Akel Escárate), El crujido de un cuello de cisne al romperse (Daniel Rivera), El milagro (Daniela López Lugo), Espiral del silencio (Eduardo Rivera Aburto), Revival (Julio Orellana) and Sin lugar para el descanso (Cristóbal López).


Also in the festival the fiction short films En busca de un tierno silencio (Luis Cifuentes), Abisal (Esteban Santana), Eva (Gonzalo Yáñez Caro), Tocata y Fuga (Sergio Dominguez), El gusto de la sangre (Matías Searle), Desatada (Holger Enck) and Piter (Rossana Castillo) will participate.

The selection is completed by two short films of the documentary genre: Entre la tierra y el canto (Ana L’Homme), and Un matrimonio feliz (Antonio Zagal).

“We see a lot of Chilean short films every year and discover a lot of excellence.” For this edition of SANFIC, we selected 17 works that we believe are the directors to follow as national talents. This short film contest has a thematic diversity for all audiences and of good invoice “, explains Carlos Núñez, Artistic Director of SANFIC.


The 17 productions will be screened before a jury composed of personalities from the national and international cinematographic world, and will compete for the Best Short Film Award of the National Talent Short Film Contest of SANFIC 15 °. At the same time, they can be seen by the public during the making of the festival, in the halls and venues of the contest.
