The world biggest photographic contest opens its entry

“Ciudades del futuro” (cities of the future in Spanish), is the subject of the eleventh version of the contest organized by CBRE and that challenges to capture those bonds in the metropolis.

Santiago, December 2018. The CBRE company globally launched the contest of “Urban Photographer of the Year” with the subject of “cities of the future”. For ten years the contest has called the world to tell and celebrate unique times in the urban environment. In the past edition participated more than 80,000 pictures from 179 countries, Chile included, which had about 400 contestants.

Registrations for the competition are completely free and are open to professional and amateur photographers over the age of 18, who will participate for a photographic trip to the destination of their choice, plus a companion. The winners of past editions have visited places such as Turkey, Morocco, Bhutan and Namibia. Other awards include photography equipment, GoPro set, camera bags and more.

A unique element of the contest is that it allows contestants to present 24 images, which represent every hour of the day, as well as a mobile and an Instagram category. Each of these will be able to participate both for the Grand Prix and Regional winner, as well as for the prizes in their own category.

Cecilia Iacobelli of CBRE Chile, says, “We are a company deeply connected with the urban environment, and the contest Urban Photographer of the Year allows us to demonstrate our knowledge and passion for city life. As evidenced by the record number of participants we had the previous year, this competition continues to capture the interest and imagination around the world. ”

The jury is made up of renowned artists, among them from Latin America, the Argentinean photographer Sergio Castiglione, who has been characterized by portraying images that highlight the urban environment and architecture; and Paulo del Valle, who began showing his work through Instagram, being even nominated for the “Instagrammer of the Year” award at the Shorty Awards 2017. His recognition has managed to transfer the social networks becoming considered, these days, as one of the photographers of the moment in Brazil.

In the last edition the winner was Richard Morgan with his photo titled, “What Are you looking at?” which captures the connection between local spectators and tourists in the city of Poznan, Poland. Those interested in participating can upload their photographs on the website www.cbreupoty.com/es, where they will be receiving until January 31, 2019.
