Young Art Municipal Award opens its call

In its 20th edition, the Young Art Municipal Award of Santiago’s Municipality opens its call process for national and foreign young artists.

The Young Art Municipal Award started in 1998 to award the creation of emerging artists in painting and sculpture discipline. Today, with twenty years of its existence, the contest includes ten categories: painting, sculpture, engraving, photography, drawing – illustration, media arts, performance, installation, murals, and from this year, textile-ceramic-goldsmithing. Another innovation for this version is to receive the pieces in digital format for the first phase apply, which allows to simplify the registration process of the pieces, and also extend its origin.

On this special occasion, the winners come renewed as well. The prize money for each category is doubled in relation to last year. On top of this, a collective exhibition and an individual exhibition of one of the winner artists are added, in Posada del Corregidor Art Gallery, in addition to a residency in Centro Nacional de Arte Contemporáneo Cerrillos that the jury will give to another awarded author.

With all these news, the Young Art award is positioned as one of the most attractive art contests in national scene for young people, an excellent way to make history in this celebration of 20 years of career acknowledging the work of emerging artists.

To the Young Art Award can be applied for in the different categories pieces of Chilean authors and foreign authors with permanent residence, who must be between 18 and 35 years old. The call will be open from June 25th to July 27th. For more information visit www.santiagocultura.cl.
