Due to the great massive attendance of the Artespacio joven BBVA Competition in its three previous versions in 2015, 2016 and 2017, the alliance of the BBVA Bank and Artespacio gallery will carry out a fourth version this year 2018, through the Cultural Donations Law with the support of the Chilean Cultural Heritage Corporation.
The contest seeks to encourage the creation and innovation of local artists (under 35 years of age), to generate a space of approach between emerging artists and audiences linked to art and to become a platform for the projection and detection of young national and foreign talent living in Chile.
The competition will have two stages of work. First of all, the young artists who comply with the rules and by dossiers will be selected, then they will be invited to present an unpublished work and a specialized committee will evaluate the participants who will exhibit in Artespacio gallery, the three winners and honorable mentions.
The jury will be made up of Manuel Olivares, Chairman of the BBVA Chile Group; Cristian Salineros, artist and academic professor; Alejandra Villasmil, Venezuelan journalist and creator of Artishock; and Beatriz Bustos, curator of contemporary art in Latin America and Asia.
The finalists of the 2018 ARTESPACIO JOVEN BBVA COMPETITION will have a group exhibition in Artespacio to be inaugurated on Thursday 20th June at 7:30 pm, the day on which the prizes will also be awarded to the winners of the competition. The exhibition will be on display until Friday, July 22nd.
