Suecia premia a la artista Doris Salcedo

The Colombian artist, Doris Salcedo, received the Rolf Schock prize from visual arts by the Sweden Academy of Arts, for her work “sensible y profundamente comprometido”. Her work talks about the long-lasting effects of war and violence, where the pain and tragedy leaves a scar in communities. Salcedo’s work concentrates on sculptures, installations, and interventions in the public space, without forgetting about the intimate and profound side.

The Rolf Schock prize has prevailed since 1993, when Rolf Schock, artist and philosopher, gave his fortune to the creation of four prizes in the logic, mathematic, philosophic, musical, and visual arts area. The prize winner receives a contribution of US$56,000.
