The street is the obligated place of traficc for practically everyone. Center of transit, gatherings, walks, and the best window for the publicity display and for the visual art. Claudio Caiozzi, better known as Caiozzama, is fully aware of that.
Fernando Figueroa Saavedra explains that when the institutional media are not able to keep pace they find themselves to the service of an official idelogy. When the citizen feels his/her freedom repressed (either of expression or of development), “this has to pour itself to the street to be heard, as the old traditional standards of behsviour of our culture demand, above the validity of any politic system” claims Figueroa Saavedra. Regarthing to this matter, the feeling of denunciation in the work of the Chilean artist makes sense in the works Alguien tiene que sufrir or Rebelde, where he suggests the existence of weapons in people or beings that we do not expect, where he shows that the violence is also common in the children. The world is and has always been something violent but many times the statistics or the press hides it.
There are hidden topics in Chile that the surveys omit in a daily basis, making questions in the wrong places. The works of Diamela Etit leave in display each word of this reality. But beyond Chile, the world suffers from hunger, The King and El apocalipsis agrícola ya viene are a reflection of the transgenic food and the poison that we consume every day, from all the deaths. And as Fernando Figueroa explains, when the media hide the realities the citizenry has to pour to the streets:
The works of Caiozzama are printed and glued in the walls of those circulated spaces from Santiago, for the demonstration to accour and the people to react, for the art to be seen and be intervened with comments and suggestions from other pedestrians. In this way, through a constant photographic record the work makes more and more sense.
It has even happened in certain places that the works are protected by the pedestrains as well as the owners of the place where are located. And this is one of the most important aspect of his work. The impact, the sense that creates in the people that watch them, who even cheer to capture them with their cellphones and upload them to the social networks making of them a viral phenomenon, beacause they are something public with an implicit message, direct and conscious.
