Chile will host the World Summit on Arts and Culture
Centro Cultural Estación Mapocho, a Chilean cultural Heritage building, will host the 6th World Summit on Arts and Culture in 2014. For the first time, this meeting, organized by the International Federation of Arts Councils and Culture Agencies (IFACCA), will be staged in a Latin American country.
Cultural delegates from all around the world take part of this event since 2000, and discuss about cultural policies, projects’ financing and publics’ access to art. After an application process started in 2009 by Centro Cultural Estación Mapocho together with Consejo Nacional de la Cultural y las Artes, the Chilean proposal was chosen over the Spanish, Slovakian and Korean ones.
The announcement was made by Alan Davey (Chief Executive of Arts Council England) in Melbourne, Australia, where the 5th World Summit on Arts and Culture is taking place until October 6th.
